At BLS Construction, we have the skill and technology to incorporate horizontal directional drilling (HDD), also known as directional boring, into our underground utility projects. Say goodbye to large crews and extended digging times. Our advanced HDD techniques ensure efficient and minimally invasive installations.
Common Uses of Directional Drilling:
We commonly use directional drilling to install pipes, conduits, or cables in areas where traditional open-cut construction is challenging. This method allows us to navigate around obstacles and achieve installations with minimal surface disruption.
Benefits of Directional Drilling:
- Precision Path: We follow a pre-planned path, creating minimal impact with a shallow arc.
- Minimal Surface Disruption: The drilling process occurs almost entirely underground, with only entry and exit points visible. This significantly reduces the surface space needed for the project.
- Versatile Material Use: Directional drilling accommodates various pipe materials, including PVC, ductile iron, steel, polypropylene, and polyethylene. As long as the pipes have the required thickness and strength, we can install them using HDD.
- Cost Savings: Directional drilling takes less time and requires less manpower than traditional pipe and cable installation methods. Needing a smaller crew reduces labor costs. We complete trenchless jobs far quicker than companies that rely on traditional methods.
- Low Environmental Impact: Avoiding trench digging and minimizing environmental disruption offers significant benefits. It eliminates the need to replace damaged or uprooted landscaping, which is crucial for preserving permanent hardscaping features and large trees that are challenging and costly to relocate. These savings alone could amount to hundreds or even thousands of dollars.
